Cameron has increased the weight of the Special Select blades (Newport, Newport 2, and Newport 2.5) by inserting tungsten sole weights in the heel and toe of the blades to compensate for the size reduction. Tungsten is more expensive and heavier than stainless steel.

Everything fits together perfectly in proper proportion to one another when you’re addressing a group. The Special Select Squareback 2 swings when the shaft is fully offset, and the toe hang is near 4 o’clock, what the designers intended. Similar to Newport 2.
Increased alignment and forgiveness are the other aspects of the mid-mallet promise.
It should be noted that the interchangeable weights in Special Select mallets, such as the Squareback 2, are significantly lighter than those found on standard mallet blades.
The weights used in the mallets are stainless steel weights weighing 10, 15, or 20 grams. The blades are weighted with tungsten weights weighing 30, 35, and 40 grams. This allows creating a massively heavy putter head by inserting tungsten weights into a mallet head, which is a helpful feature.

Tiger Woods began using the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS (German Stainless Steel) prototype putter in 1999, and he has continued to use it to this day.
